Kodak i40 Firmware and Driver Check

If you have been directed to this page from the Kodak i40 Check utility, please see "What to do if you need to upgrade" below.

Updated firmware is available for Kodak older i40 scanners. The update is urgently recommended for all i40 scanners purchased before December 31st 2005 and prevents unreliable page detection which in rare circumstances can cause image corruption.

This issue has been reported by a small number of practices who occasionally noticed the problem when scanning. In testing, neither the practices or Kodak were able to reproduce the effect but it is known to be fixed by applying updated scanner firmware.

Docman 7 users (v 70012 and above) can easily check their scanner's firmware using the simple check utility. Click here to start the download and choose 'Open or Run' when prompted.

Non-Docman 7 users can manually check the firmware version using the 'Info' tab on the Kodak Twain driver screen (which appears when you scan). If the firmware version number is lower than 2.0.3 you should upgrade.

What to do if you need to upgrade:

If your i40 scanner has older drivers and firmware you can download them from the Kodak i40 Scanner Page. A PDF guide to the update process can be downloaded by clicking here.

A Kodak support specialist is available to guide you through the entire process. Please call the number shown below and identify yourself as a PCTI customer (even if Microtech installed your system). They will ask you to provide your scanners' serial number which is displayed on the under side of the unit below a bar code.

  • Kodak Software Support Group: 0870 850 2409

In addition to this news bulletin, PCTI and Microtech will be writing to each practice who were supplied an i40 throughout 2005 in order to draw attention to what we consider to be an urgent upgrade requirement.
