Over 500 INPS Vision practices throughout the UK are now using Docman to save time, improve data security and enhance the availability of their patient records.

Vision Docman is the result of ongoing collaboration between In Practice Systems Ltd (INPS) and PCTI (the leading primary care document management solution provider) that started over eighteen months ago. It allows practices to scan clinical and non-clinical correspondence, and tag the documents with key data before filing them into the patient’s record in their Vision clinical system.

Vision Docman has been proven to significantly reduce the amount of paper being chased around the practice. A recent development to Vision Docman has been the addition of Vision Docman Plus (aka Intellisense), which uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to ‘read’ information within typed documents, recognising the document detail (i.e. hospital, department and consultant) along with information including the patient name, date of birth and NHS/CHI number. This allows Vision Docman Plus to identify the patient, and file documents with minimal user interaction The summarising element of Vision Docman Plus extracts diagnosis read codes using sophisticated ‘proximity’ algorithms and relevance scoring, and adds these read codes to the appropriate Vision patient record.

INPS Managing Director, Max Brighton comments, “Naturally, we are delighted that there are now over 500 practices using Vision Docman. Through our relationship with PCTI we are able to offer the most sophisticated, yet easy to use, document management solution that allows practices to enjoy the many benefits of being ‘paperlite’, which, in turn, helps them to improve the levels of service GPs provide to their patients.”

PCTI director Guy Bridgewater says, “With Docman now widely acknowledged as a de-facto standard in Primary Care for document management, INPS customers are able to fully access the benefits of being paperlite thanks to the groundbreaking alliance between the two companies”.
